Twice as Nice: Twin Dolphins HP, Tuncurry, NSW

INTRO

Alison Huth shares a tale of two caravan parks in one–at the dreamy Twin Dolphins Holiday Park

The wonderful thing about Twin Dolphins, a member of Kui Parks, is that there are two distinct areas to choose from. The first area has a brilliant range of cabins, there really is every sort of cabin here, plus some that make it easy to have a porta cot in the second bedroom. All the cabins are really well laid out and spotless.

In this area there are seven powered slab sites with an amenities block over the road that was recently renovated and looks very smart indeed.

Then comes the second part of the park further down the road, where you’ll spot a yellow JCB sitting in the scrub. It looks perfectly happy there! It does still work and was used recently to help install two new cabins before returning to its spot.

When we were checking in we were told that the best idea is to leave the car at the Yellow Truck (JCB) and walk around to choose our site. It was a quiet time so there was a good selection of sites.

Park Up Effortlessly

My first reaction was to stop and stare at the lush green field with lots of trees with trunks on the ground. Then I realised they were the site borders. In the middle of the area were a couple of green wooden buildings on stumps, this area’s amenities block. They blended with the atmosphere.

We walked around and chose a site, Peter backed on site and when he thought he was far enough back so we could leave the car hitched up he stopped. I was very glad he stopped there because I had a feeling that he was in the exact spot that would leave the van level – and it was. How good was that!

We set up and had a walk around. This area of the park is beautiful. I’ve seen a lot of camping grounds over the years but this one is a stand out.

Find Your Oasis

It’s so different from the other part of the park, which is also very well maintained. So, when you come to Twin Dolphins, the question for sites is easy–slab or lush green grass. When it comes to cabins, that might take a bit longer given the range they have.

The area has beaches galore, events, farmers markets, cafes and is a hub for day trips. It’s a beautiful part of the NSW coast and well worth spending plenty of time here.

Park Owners, Andrew and Kay Walker have taken their many years of caravan park management experience and created a truly beautiful green oasis.
