Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series Order Pause: GXL Wagon Sales Halted

Strong customer demand and low production levels (feasibly related to the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard) prompt Toyota Australia to temporarily halt orders for the popular automatic GXL Wagon variant.

Toyota Pauses Orders on LandCruiser 70 Series GXL Wagon

Strong customer demand and relatively low production levels have prompted Toyota Australia to pause customer orders from 17 July 2025 on the LandCruiser 70 Series GXL Wagon automatic variant.

The sales pause only affects this single model with Toyota opting to pause orders to provide complete transparency for customers and enable dealers to deliver existing orders in a timely manner.

Why Toyota is Pausing Orders

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the decision to pause orders on this single LandCruiser 70 Series variant would provide customers with more certainty around delivery times for existing orders.

“We know in the past, particularly through the COVID-19 pandemic and during the global semi-conductor supply shortage, vehicle supply challenges caused a degree of frustration with our customers with wait times for delivery of new vehicles being extended significantly,” Mr Hanley said.

Working together with the Parent Company

“We never want to be the cause of that frustration again so together with our dealer network, we are committed to carefully managing any supply issues to provide complete transparency for customers when issues outside our control arise.

“We continue to work with our parent company in Japan to optimise production and supply levels of all Toyota vehicles to ensure we can deliver and satisfy Australian customer demands. You can find out more on Toyota.

“Since we launched the new four-cylinder LandCruiser 70 Series in late 2023, we have seen its appeal grow for Australian customers with strong demand across the entire range,” he said.

Proven Power Across the 70 Series Range

All LandCruiser 70 Series models are powered by Toyota’s proven 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with a choice of five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions on GXL Wagon, GXL Troop Carrier, GXL Double Cab Chassis, WorkMate Troop Carrier and WorkMate Double Cab Chassis.

The WorkMate Wagon and all Single Cab Chassis models are offered with the automatic transmission only.

Supply Levels for Other 70 Series Variants

Apart from the GXL Wagon automatic, Toyota has good supply of all other variants in the LandCruiser 70 Series range with Toyota dealers having some variants in stock for immediate delivery, or are able to deliver new orders within approximately two-four months depending on the variant.
