Jayco builds baby toy hauler
Jayco JPod Utility combines mobile garage versatility with treehouse-style sleeping
Jayco is looking to expand its two-model range of JPod compact campers, displaying a bare-boned toy hauler version of itsĀ fibreglass composite micro-caravanĀ at this year’s Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow.
The JPod Utility at the Melbourne Showgrounds had minimal information displayed, apart from a base price of $15,990 — or $3000 less than the entry-level JPod Sport camper.
However, the display model was equipped with an optional ($1990) roof-top tent and ($895) awning, to boost its advertised drive-away price to $17,875 (with $1000 show bonus).
Instead of an internal double bed, slide-out kitchen and storage cabinetryĀ found in other JPod campers,Ā the JPod Utility boasted a stark, stripped out interior ‘garage’ space big enough for a range of recreational toys like the couple of mountain bikes and surfboard displayed.
There were also some tie-down hooks along the floor along with a roof hatch and light, to go with side windows and locker doors from the other JPod campers.
