Here over at Camper Trailer Lifestyle headquarters we are a lucky bunch of travellers. We get to regularly test out the latest camping gear to hit the shelves in some truly beautiful places.
And this time, we’ve truly struck gold with the good folk at Goldstream RV sending the team their very latest creation to test out for six whole months: The Goldstream Wing 3 ST King Bed Premium Platinum.
With a name like this, they’re really talking it up. So let’s see what it’s got.
Large Lounge
For Goldstream RV, the Wing is where it all began more than 28 years ago, and it’s still a favourite among families in the camping game. Four different layouts round out the range. The Wing 3 ST layout is designed for families looking for a bit more privacy and comfort at camp. It comprises a huge L-shape lounge at the front, a large adjustable table and a spacious kitchen with an angled sink and a handy ledge for your keys, wallet and phone at the door.
Is that an Ensuite?
As the most luxurious layout in the line-up, the Wing 3 ST includes an internal shower cubicle and toilet complete with hand basin and a hot water system. It’s also fitted with twin water tanks and a second LPG gas bottle so you can have that warm shower after messy adventures out on the tracks. Even with the ensuite, you still get a very generous amount of bench and preparation space along with the 91L fridge, that sink and a 4 burner stove.
A King Bed!
If scoring the “Wing ST” layout wasn’t enough, we somehow managed to wrangle the “Premium” pack too. It’s built upon the off-road pack but adds a few nifty comforts like
the picnic table and a radio with a CD player. It’s available in a queen bed layout but we went for the King Bed upgrade for a bit more room. It also comes with a deluxe stoneguard, AL-KO Enduro suspension, mud terrain tyres and an off-road coupling up the front. Plus, a choice of checker-plate colours with a Fiamma awning.
Ergonomic Height
Perhaps the first thing to lure us towards the Wing models is the room you get inside. From the moment you step inside you get a true sense of space. Plus, with benchtops sitting at a modern, higher than standard height, you gain additional storage below with enough room for some deep, yet sturdy drawers and large cupboards designed to maximise your packing space. This model comes with 170W solar up top, a 100Ah battery, outlets and internal lighting and provision for air-conditioning.
