Burrum River Beauty
Pontoon access, pristine gardens and Country Treasures nearby, the Burrum River Caravan Park delivers!
Peter and I were slowly making our way home from a delightful trip when we pulled into Burrum River Caravan Park for a few nights, a member of Kui Parks. Well, what can I say! Deb in the Office is Super Friendly and Terry is a Gardener Extraordinaire! They have been here for 7 years and their focus in those years has been to create a park that is stunning to see, delightful to stay in and ever so easy to stay longer than you planned.
Important things
4 holiday cabins
50 powered tourist sites (slab and grass)
Some unpowered tent sites
Camp kitchen area
Day or TV room (with books and jigsaws)
Swimming Pool
Camp fire area
Pet Friendly
The park is pet friendly, and has a lovely dogs bath, just waiting for your best friend.
A walk around the park is wonderful and a bit of an adventure when you want to find the swimming pool. You need to walk down quite a steep pathway, it’s sealed and thankfully has a hand rail. If you don’t want to walk that way, there is a slower grassed slope access to the pool level.
Pontoon Access
Below the pool level is the Burrum River with access to a pontoon, with some chairs if you want to while away some time, or maybe fish. We walked around the park and chatted to a couple of the residents and smiled at just about everyone else, because that’s what people do here.
Beautiful Gardens
Terry has taken to the gardens with gusto. Deb described them as a bit of a mess when they arrived. Today they are full of colour and he has developed a skill set which includes topiary. There is one area that they refer to as the Lamington area – see if you can find it!
Vanilla Slices
We have a favourite shop just up the road in Howard, the VanCootens Howard Drapery with so much of just about anything you can think of. It’s right by the Naughty Café which serves Naughty Food. They didn’t have any Vanilla Slices when we called in, but the Caramel Tart was a pretty good substitute!
Touring Options
There is a lot more to do in the area, you can fill up your days travelling around Howard, going to Maryborough, Childers or Hervey Bay But, if you’re like us, all you will want is to soak up the friendly atmosphere and enjoy sitting with trees, bushes, colour and friendly people all around you.
