During five minutes of downtime, driver for Vacationer Matt Simpson was eager to show off the integrity of the Vacationer Dakar construction by jumping onto the roof of his own personal van.
Inspiring his confidence? A supertough roof supported by a rigid TIG-welded fibreglass roof, tough aluminium frame–a staple on all Vacationer vans–riding on a truss chassis finished in an extreme coating, teamed with 17in Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT tyres.
Inside it’s a real treat, too, boasting baroque flair with a full spacious rear-width club lounge and all the comforts–including air-conditioning off-grid replenished courtesy of the kilowatt of solar panels up top.

Vacationer’s premium all electric Dakar spec truly equipped our 199C demonstrator with a whopping megawatt of solar feeding the 7.2kW 48V battery bank via the Arizon 12V-48V 1.4kW DC-DC charger. That’s teamed with the 48V Victron MultiPlus II 5000W-70A inverter-charger offering fast and safe charging from mains power and high voltage power capability off-grid.
Performance-wise, we see the 4.5T Cruisemaster ATX Unleashed provide four-stage auto controlled airbags and incredible stopping power thanks to the 12in electric drum brakes.
